Big Bazaar tells its doorstep delivery plans for lockdown period

One of the largest retail brands, the Future group, stepped up to help and introduced new mechanisms to help the customers at this crucial time. Due to the current lockdown restrictions in place, Future Group’s hypermarkets’ chain, Big Bazaar started its new doorstep delivery service.

“We are trying to help our customers in the best possible manner. New delivery mechanisms are being put in place, to help those who are not able to reach our outlets. There are disruptions in supplying goods but we are trying to reach out and deliver essentials to people, wherever possible,” spokesperson Future Group

He further added, “necessary steps are already in place to keep our customers safe while they shop. We are practicing social distancing measures at our stores.”

It (Big-Baazar) news only comes when most stores, brick, and mortar as well as online, have been limiting or halting operations entirely.

As PM Narendra Modi declared on Tuesday a 21-day lockdown across the country effective from midnight on March 25 to combat the spread of COVID-19. “Shops like ration shops (under PDS), dealing with food, groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, meat and fish, animal fodder” can remain open, according to the official lockdown notification. The notification also states, “District authorities should promote and facilitate home delivery in order to reduce people’s movement outside their homes.”
