The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday (August 5, 2021) knowledgeable the Supreme Courtroom that it’ll conduct examinations for enchancment or Improvement exams of marks of courses 10 and 12 candidates from August 25 to September 15, and glued September 30 because the date for declaration of outcomes.

Meanwhile, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) board said it will hold improvement exams on August 16 and declare results around September 20.

The schedule submitted by CBSE and the ICSE in their respective affidavits was approved by a bench headed by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar. “In response, the boards have filed separate affidavits making firm commitment about the Schedule. As there was some ambiguity in the affidavit filed by the CBSE, on instructions, learned counsel appearing for the CBSE has submitted a schedule for conducting exams for Improvement/Compartment/Private/Patrachar students of Class 12 and Class 10,” said the bench in its order.

The CBSE stated on August 10, its portal will open for registration of candidates — for enchancment, patrachar and personal candidates of courses 10 and 12 – and a round will probably be issued, declaring date sheet for exams. The examinations would start from August 25 and the final paper will probably be held on September 15. It is going to declare outcomes on September 30.

The association asked the two boards to consider announcing the results by September 20 due to college admissions and entrance examinations such as JEE, NEET. The court accepted the schedules provided by the two boards and refused to advance the dates.

CBSE counsel Rupesh Kumar said the examination will be conducted for three categories of students; those who apply for correction of results through dispute resolution mechanism, compartment candidates, and private, correspondence or second chance compartment candidates. The option to register for the physical examination may be made available by August 10, he added.

The two boards unequivocally objected to the demand of refunding the fee, underlining that they were “self-financing” bodies that did not receive any grant from the government. In separate affidavits, the boards said that examination fees of 1500 per student is the only means to pay their staff and finance the expenses for the examinations.
