CBSE exam fees: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday extended the deadline for payment of examination fees for classes 10 and 12 students till October 31, according to officials.

“Looking into the problems faced by schools and parents, the last date for submission of List of Candidates (LOC) for classes 10 and 12 for 2021 board exams without late fees has been extended from October 15 to 31 and with late free from November 1 to 7,” said Sanyam Bhardwaj, CBSE’s Examination Controller.

The board took to Twitter to announce this extension of the deadline. It said: “Looking into the problems faced by schools and parents, the last date for submission of LOC for classes X and XII for 2021 exams without late fee has been extended from 15.10.20 to 31.10.20 and with late fee from 1.11.20 to 7.11.20.”

The Delhi Government, earlier, as well wrote to CBSE requesting an extension of the deadline for payment of examination fees for the 2021 board exams. “The CBSE was requested last month for waiving off the entire examination fee, as a one time measure, for the students of classes 10 and 12 studying in government-run and aided schools. In reply to the request, the board had shown its inability to waive off the examination fee,” the Directorate of Education (DoE) said in a letter to CBSE.

The letter by the Delhi government had outlined the financial crisis being faced by a large number of parents who have lost their jobs during these trying times. “Facing such problems and for the continuation of the study of their children, parents are resorting to loans for paying the examination fee of their children,” the letter read.

Class 9 and 11 Exam Fee for Registrations 

Along with the registrations for class 10 and 12 board examinations,  the board has also released the dates for the class 9 and 11 examinations. According to the schedule provided, the last date for students to submit the fee for class 9 and 11 exams is November 19, 2020.

The Delhi Government had earlier written to the CBSE requesting for an extension in the registration dates and payment of the examination fee for the 2021 Board examinations. The board had also been requested last month to waive off the entire examination fee as a one time measure for the students from Class 10 to 12 studying in the government-run and government-aided schools. The Directorate of Education (DoE) had stated that considering the request the board had shown its inability to waive off the examination fee.

Mean-while, India’s COVID-19 caseload rose to 73,70,468 with 63,371 new infections being reported in a day, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease crossed 64 lakh pushing the recovery rate to 87.56 percent, according to the Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The coronavirus deaths climbed to 1,12,161 with the virus claiming 895 lives in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed. For eight days in a row, the active cases of COVID-19 remained below 9 lakh.

There are 8,04,528 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 10.92 percent of the total caseload, while the recoveries have surged to 64,53,779, the data stated. The COVID-19 case fatality rate due to COVID-19 was recorded at 1.52 percent.
