CBSE hikes Fees: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has increased the registration fee for board examination. If you are appearing for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations this year, be ready to fork out more money for exam registration. This year the board has begun the registration process a bit earlier than previous year to provide sufficient time to complete the processes involved.

Starting this year, CBSE has increased its examination fees for Class 10 and Class 12 by 200% and 40%, respectively, to Rs 1,500 each. The registration for class 10 board exams is done when a student is in class 9 and for class 12 is done when a students is in class 11. CBSE has also more than doubled the migration fees from Rs 150 to Rs 350. Students who have not cleared their examinations and are re-seeking admission will have to shell out Rs 5,000.

The registration fee has been doubled. Until last year, the registration fee was Rs 150 per student for schools in India and Rs 250 per student for schools abroad. With the increase in the fee, the registration fee is Rs 300 per student for schools in India and Rs 500 per student for schools abroad.

The last date to complete the registration process is October 15, 2019 without the late fee.

For students who miss out on the registration process by the last date, they can complete the registration process from October 16 to October 31, 2019 by an additional late fee of Rs 2,000.

  • The amount has been doubled for those from the general category, , who will now have to pay Rs 1,500.
  • The migration fees which was Rs 150 earlier, has also been increased to Rs 350.

Moreover, the Delhi government had announced in June that it would pay the CBSE board exam registration fee of students studying in Class 10 and Class 12 government schools, but it is still working out the funding arrangements.

“If any student has already paid the fees, the government will reimburse it,” said a government official.

    • Class 12 – Rs 1,050


  • In 2019, Registration Fees for
    • Class 1o – Rs 1,500
    • Class 12 – Rs 1,500

Students can offer minimum 5 or more subjects. The subject combination allowed by the board is available in the official notification released by the board and is also available on the board’s official website.

The registration process for 2021 board examination began on August 8, 2019. The registration process is facilitated through a student’s school.
