The transport department of the Delhi government on Wednesday launched a three-day trial of e-ticketing system in all buses on a single route. For the preliminary trial of contactless ticketing, the conductors were given online training to assist the commuters by a team of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi. The trial has begun on route number 473.

 

The passengers can take an e-ticket through a mobile app after boarding the bus. The app can be downloaded from Google Playstore or one can WhatsApp ”Hi” on 9910096264 to get the app URL, it said. The app was developed with the technical support of IIIT-Delhi, it said.

 

Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot had constituted a task force for timely coordination and implementation of exploring the options of contactless mobile ticketing inside DTC and cluster buses so that there is no physical contact. On the recommendation of this task force, the transport department decided to conduct a public trial of the mobile contactless ticketing system. Ticket booking can be done in two ways.

 

The bus conductors were given online training to assist the commuters during a trial by the team of IIIT-Delhi. 

 

Ticket booking can be done in two ways through the mobile app. In case a user knows the ticket fare, he can open the app and click on ”BY FARE”, scan the QR code of the bus, select ”Buy New Ticket” and choose the payment option. If the passenger knows the bus route, source and destination, he can click on ”By Destination”, the statement said.

 

A task force was set up by the Transport minister for timely coordination and implementation of the contactless mobile ticketing system in DTC and cluster buses to prevent contact during the purchase of the ticket, it said. PTI VIT DPB.

 

Mean-while, India’s COVID-19 tally reached 19,64,537 today, with 56,282 cases being reported in a day. Recoveries rose to 13,28,336 including 46,121 in the past 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data. There are 5,95,501 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country presently while the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients has gone up to 67.19%. This is the eighth consecutive day that COVID-19 cases have increased by more than 50,000. 904 patients succumbed to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 40,699.
