Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal asked people of the capital to give him their suggestions on lockdown and what needs to be done after 17 May. He said PM Modi has asked all states to give their recommendations following which a final decision would be taken. Kejriwal said that it is not possible to end the lockdown completely and asked people to suggest what sectors should be kept open. He also said that while it is important to save ourselves from COVID, it is also very important to maintain the health of the economy.

Addressing a presser via video conferencing, Kejriwal said, “I want to ask the people of Delhi to send their suggestions on what they want post-May 17. You can send in your suggestions by 5 pm tomorrow on the number 1031, WhatsApp no. 8800007722 or e-mail at delhicm.suggestions@gmail.com”.

Kejriwal address came a day after PM Modi’s meeting with all the chief ministers to decide road ahead on the lockdown and its exit in the country. In his meeting, the Prime Minister asked all states to send him suggestions on what kind of relaxations they want in their states post-May 17. The meeting with CMs was PM Modi’s 5th such meeting ever since the country entered the lockdown phase to contain and fight coronavirus.

“Prime Minister Modi has also asked the Chief Ministers to submit the broad strategy to deal with the lockdown in their states till May 15.

The Chief Minister said that lockdown guidelines will be implemented strictly in the coming days. the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown is scheduled to end on May 17.

Meanwhile, India crossed the grim milestone of 70,000 COVID-19 cases today. The states continued to record over 3,500 fresh coronavirus cases even on Monday. The total number of coronavirus cases in India jumped to 70,756, according to the ministry of health and family welfare. Maharashtra added over 1,000 new cases for the sixth straight day.
