Metro train services will begin early on the election day (08/02/2020). This is done to ensure that polling personnel reach their destinations on time. People in Delhi are all set to vote for their leader by tommorow, the city’s metro announced that train services will begin early on that day. Delhi Metro will start running from 4 am, an hour and half ahead of its normal time so that staff on election duty can reach their destinations on time, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) informed. DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) has tweeted that, “In order to facilitate the polling personnel and others to reach their destinations on time, Delhi Metro services will begin at 4:00 AM on 8 February 2020. However, the elections will be held on 70 seats on 8th of February and the result will be declared on 11th of February.

Budget carrier SpiceJet offered ‘hundreds’ of ‘free’ tickets, where the base fare will be waived but taxes and other surcharges have to be paid, to select people who want to fly to Delhi to vote in the upcoming assembly elections on February 8. Under the ‘SpiceDemocracy’ initiative, the airline stated that if the departure to Delhi and return from the city is on February 8, it will refund the entire base fare on both tickets.

There are 13,750 polling booths, besides one auxiliary booth, located at 2,689 locations across Delhi. Special Commissioner of Police (Intelligence) Praveer Ranjan, on the sidelines of the press conference, said 190 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be deployed as part of the security measures. This is nearly four times the number of CAPF personnel deployed during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, he added.

Over 1.47 crore people will vote for the high voltage elections in Delhi. Voters in various categories include males (81,05,236), females (66,80,277), service voters (11,608), third gender voters (869), and senior citizens (aged 80 and above) voters (2,04,830)
