Tata Sky on Monday announced it is offering its latest Tata Sky Binge+ for 2,999 to new customers. Existing customers opting for an upgrade or secondary multi-TV connection can get the smart set-top-box for 2,499. The device was earlier available for 3,999. The new prices have already come into effect.

Tata Sky’s Binge+ is a smart set-top-box that runs on Android. The company is offering 6 months of access at no extra cost to premium content from eight OTT platforms as part of the Tata Sky Binge subscription. The catalog includes content from Disney+ Hotstar Premium, ZEE5, VOOT Select, VOOT Kids, SunNxt, Hungama Play, Eros Now, and ShemarooMe. Tata Sky is also bundling 3-months of Amazon Prime subscription at no extra cost.

The new smart set-top-box from Tata Sky features a built-in Chromecast which enables users to mirror content from their laptop or smartphone to the TV. The smart set-top-box also supports Google Assistant which makes it easier for users to navigate and search for content through voice commands. It comes with Google Play Store to allow users to download games and applications. The smart set-top-box covers all the latest TV formats including 4K, HD, LED, LCD, and even plasma TVs.

 

New pricing has gone live from 18th September across all channels of purchase for new and existing subscribers.

The price drop comes after Airtel launched Xstream Bundle with unlimited broadband data, access to TV channels, and OTT applications. The bundle features a smart 4K set-top-box that runs on Android 9.0 and comes bundled with a remote that supports Google Assistant voice search.

Airtel says its Android 4K TV box supports 550 TV channels and OTT content from the Airtel Xstream app that includes over 10,000 movies and shows aggregated across 7 OTT apps and 5 studios into one.

Meanwhile, The number of novel coronavirus cases detected in India in the 24 hours ending 9 am Tuesday was 75,083. This took the country’s tally above 55 lakh. With an additional 1,053 deaths due to Covid-19, the toll rose to 88,935. The 55,62,664 cases in India include 9,75,861 people who are undergoing treatment and 44,97,868 who have recovered. The phase-III human clinical trial of the Covid-19 vaccine being developed by Oxford University, and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII), began at the state-run Sassoon General Hospital in Pune on Monday. “We have started the phase-III trials of the vaccine (candidate Covishield). We will administer a dose to 150 to 200 volunteers,” news agency PTI quoted Dr. Muralidhar Tambe, Dean, Sassoon General Hospital, as saying.

The country may impose a second lockdown due to this.
