Booking can be a challenge, especially since tatkal tickets get booked very fast. What is Tatkal ticket booking opening time:

Tatkal booking opens for the selected trains at 10:00 am for AC classes and for non-AC classes at 11:00 am, one day in advance of the date of journey. You can either book Tatkal tickets over the counter in a railway station or at IRCTC website. A maximum of only four passengers per PNR can be booked for Tatkal tickets.

Tatkal tickets will be issued for actual distance of travel, instead of end-to-end, subject to the distance restriction applicable to the train. Tatkal seat or berth may be booked in multiple legs till preparation of charts.

Cancellation and refund policy:

No refund will be granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets. For waitlisted Tatkal ticket cancellations, charges will be deducted as per existing Railway rules.

What are the rules for Tatkal tickets?

To book ticket, select the Tatkal checkbox in the ‘plan my travel’ page a well as provide other details. For some selected trains, class or locations, the Tatkal quota may not be available. Therefore, it is advisable to check the availability before proceeding further. No concession is allowed in the booking of tickets and no refund is granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets.

How to know if Tatkal ticket is confirmed?

If the ticket goes up, it gets confirmed directly and it does not go through RAC status unlike General Waiting List (GNWL).
