Union Public Service Commission has deferred the Engineering Services Mains Exam or UPSC ESE Mains 2020 and Geo-Scientist Mains Exam 2020 till further notice. Candidates who were going to appear in the UPSC Mains 2020 are advised to keep visiting the official website in for the latest updates.

Earlier, UPSC ESE Mains 2020 or Engineering Services Mains Exam was scheduled to be held on 9 August 2020 for 495 vacancies while UPSC Geo-Scientist Mains 2020 was scheduled to be held on 8 August 2020 at various exam centers for 102 vacancies.

Previously, according to the original calendar, the UPSC combined geoscientist main exam was scheduled to be held on June 27 while UPSC engineering services’ main exam was to be held on June 28. However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the commission had to postpone all its exams and released a revised annual calendar for 2020.

Meanwhile, UPSC has also allowed the civil services prelims, main and Indian Forest Services (Main) exam candidates to opt for an exam center in their city to avoid traveling.“Keeping in view a large number of candidates of the civil services (preliminary) examination, 2020 (including the Indian Forest Service (preliminary) examination, 2020) and requests received from the candidates for changing their centers, the Commission has decided to give an opportunity to them to submit their revised choice of center,” the notice reads.

The window for submitting the revised Centre choice will be operational in two phases i.e. July 7 to 13, 2020 till 6 PM and July 20 to 24, 2020 till 6 PM on the Commission’s website.

All candidates are advised to stay tuned with the official website of UPSC.  The candidates will be able to download UPSC Mains 2020 Admit Card 15 days prior to the commencement of the exam.

UPSC Engineering Services Mains 2020 & Geo-Scientist Mains 2020 Exam Pattern

UPSC ESE Mains 2020 & UPSC Geo-Scientist Mains 2020 will be an offline based exam. The UPSC Engineering Services Mains 2020 Exam will be conducted for 6 hours. There will be a total of 16 questions carrying 600 Marks. There will be no negative marking for Engineering Services while UPSC Geologist Mains Exam 2020 will be of 9 hours covering Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and Jr. Hydrogeologist subjects.
