WhatsApp Fingerprint Authentication

Have you ever thought of using fingerprint authentication for accessing WhatsApp? Well, it might become a reality soon. WhatsApp has been working on a host of new features for both Android and iOS users, and while the WhatsApp Dark Mode feature was recently reported to be rolled out along with the Android Q update, a new report suggests that Android users might soon get a new WhatsApp fingerprint authentication option which will add more security to the messaging application.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook-owned app has rolled out the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.3 update in which the new authentication feature for Android users was spotted. The report further adds that after working on the Face ID and Touch ID integration on WhatsApp for iOS which haven’t been made available yet for development reasons, the app has started to work on the WhatsApp fingerprint authentication for Android OS.

There will be a new section in the WhatsApp app which will have the option to enable the Fingerprint authentication feature. It will work exactly like iOS and will be made available on Apple’s OS as well. This also means that there will be an extra layer of security added to WhatsApp as users will need to authenticate themselves every time they open the app.
