The much-awaited OnePlus 6T McLaren edition will be launched in India on Wednesday evening – one day after the smartphone was unveiled globally. The launch event will take place in Mumbai at 6 pm and will not be streamed live. The customers can, however, follow the launch updates on the official Facebook and Twitter pages of OnePlus and OnePlus India. The smartphone comes with 10GB RAM, fast charging tech – Warp Charge 30 and is expected to be the most expensive OnePlus smartphone in India till date.
The smartphone sports the McLaren Papaya Orange color that wraps around the bottom edge of the device and its panel is believed to be based on McLaren’s groundbreaking carbon fiber that has featured on all McLaren cars since 1981. The smartphone manufacturer is also likely to announce sale details and special offers on this special edition during the launch event.
OnePlus 6T McLaren edition expected price in India
The smartphone is an upgrade on OnePlus 6T which was launched earlier this year and was priced at Rs 37,999 for the base variant. The midnight black variant of the smartphone which comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is available at Rs 45,999 in the country. It is currently the highest priced variant of the company and the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition is likely to take that tag away.
The new edition has been priced at GBP 649 (roughly Rs 58,800) in the UK and should cost around Rs 50,000 in India. It comes with 10GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The smartphone will be available for sale in Western Europe and North America on Thursday, December 13. The company is yet to announce the date of sale in India but had said that it will be available “soon after” the initial debut. The official price of the phone will be revealed at the launch event on Wednesday evening.
OnePlus 6T McLaren edition specifications and features
The smartphone runs Android 9.0 Pie based on OxygenOS and comes with a 6.41-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and 10GB RAM. The phone comes with an internal storage of 256GB which cannot be expanded via microSD card.
On the back, it sports a rear camera setup that has a primary 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 sensor with a f/1.7 aperture and 1.22-micron pixels and a secondary 20-megapixel Sony IMX376K sensor with a f/1.7 aperture and 1-micron pixels. The front camera has a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixels.
For connectivity, the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C (v2.0) port. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor which the company claims unlocks the screen in just 0.34 seconds.
The smartphone comes with a 3,700mAh battery and has the Wrap Charge 30 fast charging (30W) technology. OnePlus claims that this technology can deliver full day power with just 20 minutes of charge.
