WhatsApp has been constantly bringing out new features to its users via timely updates. Usually, the beta version of the app will receive the new recording feature and the same will be rolled out to the stable version only after the successful testing. The most recent feature, which has been rolled out to the Android beta version of WhatsApp is Locked Recording.

Previously, you had to tap and hold the recording button until you are done with the recording and it wasn’t much convenient. But now, the issue has been resolved with the new Locked Recording feature. If you want to use this feature, you need to enroll to the WhatsApp beta program on the Google Play Store and update the app to the latest beta version 2.18.102.

To use the new Locked Recording feature on WhatsApp, you just have to go to the chat screen and press the record button next to the camera and attachments icons. Once you press the record button, you need to drag it upwards to lock it. As soon as the recording is locked, you should cancel the option in the message typing bar. After you are done with the recording, hit the send button to send the same to the recipient or cancel the same if want to move it to the trash.

As of now, the Locked Recording feature is available only for the beta users of Android. We can expect the same to be rolled out to all the users of WhatsApp across platforms such as Android, iOS and Windows Phone soon.

Whatsapp is soon going to have many new features such as the Payments feature, WhatsApp for Business, WhatsApp Stickers, Delete for Everyone and many more useful features. You can check out the newly added WhatsApp features from here.
