Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identifying number that was created by India’s Unique Identification Authority in service of the Indian authorities. “Such folks who had their Aadhaar made “10” years back and haven’t updated since then in these times, such Aadhaar id holders are recommended to have their documentation updated,” states the government directive
How to update Aadhaar
On submission of the necessary fee, updates to identification papers and proofs of residence are made. Updates may be made either online or in Aadhaar offices, according to a statement from UIDAI. The statement continued, “This capability can be used via the My Aadhaar portal or by attending the closest Aadhaar center. Aadhaar establishes authentication using iris, fingerprints, and photographs.

Online mode
Residents can update their addresses online through the Self-Service option, where they can do it immediately on the portal. Logging onto the portal requires the resident’s Aadhar card and linked contact number. The resident’s registered cellphone number is used for OTP-based authentication. The accompanying POA papers must be uploaded by the resident in order to finish the update procedure. To use this service, the resident must have a personal phone number linked with Aadhaar.

Why there is a Need for Updating Aadhaar details
Over the last ten years, using an Aadhaar id to identify someone has grown in popularity. Numerous government initiatives and organizations use the Aadhaar card. It was also mentioned that in order to receive government benefits while avoiding any identity or registration issues, individuals must update their Aadhaar details.
According to a UIDAI circular from August, persons without an Aadhaar number or registration slip might not be eligible to get government subsidies and several other perks.
