This week has seen the introduction of new prepaid plans from telecom companies. Jio earlier introduced five freedom recharge plan or plans that do not have a daily data limit with 15,30,60, 90 and 365 days plan validity. The move came after TRAI directed telecom companies to increase the validity on prepaid plans from 28 days to 30 days as the regulator received complaints from customers who said they felt cheated. Jio also asked TRAI to advise other Telecom companies to launch prepaid plans with 30 days validity.

Bharti Airtel has launched a new prepaid plan offering users unlimited data without any daily fair-usage-policy (FUP) restrictions. This means that you will get high-speed internet for 60 days. The days of data speed drop after exhausting the daily cap are finally over. 

The plan could gain popularity among students who are studying from home or employees who are working remotely amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rs. 456 Airtel prepaid recharge plan benefits

In terms of benefits, the Rs. 456 Airtel prepaid recharge plan offers 50GB data for 60 days, along with unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS messages per day. Post the given data cap, users will be charged at a rate of Rs. 50 paise per megabyte as well as Re. 1 for local and Rs. 1.5 for every national SMS message.

The new Rs. 456 Airtel prepaid plan also carries a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition as well as access to Airtel Xstream Premium and Wynk Music. Customers will additionally get free hellotunes access on recharging with the Rs. 456 recharge plan.

First reported by Pirce Baba, the plan has been listed on Airtel’s website and is available on Airtel Thanks app from where it can be purchased. It can also be bought through third party payment apps like Google Pay and PayTM. The plan announced by Airtel is very similar to Jio’s new Rs 447 freedom plan. Jio announced a Rs 447 freedom prepaid plan with no daily data limit. This plan gives 50GB data with no daily data limit for 60 days validity with unlimited calls and access to Jio apps.

In terms of competition, Jio has a similarly priced plan at Rs 447. This plan too offers unlimited voice calls, 50GB of high-speed data and 100 SMS per day for a validity of 60 days. It further has complimentary access to Jio apps.

Vi also has a similarly priced plan for its prepaid users in India. This plan is priced at Rs 449 and has benefits like unlimited calling, 4GB per day data, 100 SMS per day — all valid for a period of 56 days. This plan allows users to use the internet from 12 am midnight to 6 am without pack deduction.
