Bank Holidays: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a list of days when the banking operations across the country will remain shut in the month of December. Usually, private and public sector banks across the country are closed on Sundays, as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, following the guidelines issued by the RBI.
Besides, holidays in banks depend on the festivals being observed in specific states or notification of specific occasions in those states, thus customers are advised to plan their bank-related chores accordingly. However, central government holidays such as New Year, Independence Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Christmas, Holi, Diwali, Eid etc are applicable to all banks.

Mean-while, India’s coronavirus tally crossed the 94-lakh mark even as new case additions dropped below the 40,000-mark for the first time in six days.
India reported 38,772 new cases in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 94.31 lakh in the world’s second-worst infected country, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. That includes 88.47 lakh recoveries and more than 1.37 lakh deaths.
Authorities reported 45,333 recoveries in a day, making it the third straight day that new cases trailed recoveries.
Total coronavirus cases across the globe exceeded the 6.25 crore mark, while deaths neared the 15-lakh-mark on Monday morning.
