The Government of India has decided to not drop the civil services aptitude test, CSAT from UPSC Civil Services Exam Pattern. The civil services aptitude test would hence be conducted, unlike in previous years. The Civil Services Exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission, UPSC to recruit officers for Indian Administrative Service, IAS, Indian Foreign Service, IFS, and Indian Police Service, IPS among others. The exams would be conducted in three stages- Preliminary, Main, and Interview round. As per PTI report, “No sir” was the response given by Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha to a query on the plans to drop the CSAT.

The civil services aptitude test(CSAT) is part of the civil services preliminary examination.

In the meeting, Minister Singh said that the government is not planning anything to change the pattern of the UPSC civil services examination, including the replacement of interviews with a psychological test.

UPSC will conduct the Civil Services prelims exam on October 4, 2020. The examination would be conducted as per the guidelines issued by the Commission for the IAS exam at this time of the pandemic. As per the Commission, wearing masks in mandatory for all the candidates who are appearing in the exam. Candidates also need to bring their own sanitizers to the venue to appear for the CSE Prelims.

The preliminary exams will consist of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 400 marks in the subjects set out in subsection (A) of Section II. This examination is meant to serve as a screening test only. The marks obtained in the prelims exam will be declared eligible for the main exam.

Meanwhile, UPSC Civil Services Admit Card 2020 has been released a week ago. Candidates will have to reach the exam center at 9.20 am that is 10 minutes prior to the exam begins and in the evening shift, they must reach at 2:20 pm.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the schedule of release of notification of examinations for the year 2020 could not be maintained from the month of April 2020 onwards.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the declaration of result of Tier-III of Combined Graduate Level Examination – 2018 has been delayed. However, every effort is being made to complete the process of declaration of result at the earliest.

Mean-while, India’s COVID-19 case tally crossed the 51-lakh mark with a spike of 97,894 new cases and 1,132 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

The total case tally in the country stands at 51,18,254 including 10,09,976 active cases, 40,25,080 cured/discharged/migrated and 83,198 deaths, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Maharashtra has 2,97,506 active cases of coronavirus, the highest in the country. While Karnataka with 1,01,645 cases, Uttar Pradesh (96,7002), Andhra Pradesh (90,279), and Delhi (30,914) are also on the list.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 6,05,65,728 samples were tested up to September 16 for COVID-19. Of these, 11,36,613 samples tested yesterday.
