LPG price hiked By ₹ 25 Per Cylinder once again: Details here.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder prices were today increased across India. While the hike in the non-subsidised 14.2 kg domestic LPG gas price is Rs 25 per cylinder, 19-kg commercial LPG gas rate has also gone up by Rs 75 per cylinder. The subsidised domestic cooking gas price has been increased for the second time within 15 days resulting in an increase in your household budget. Notably, the revised LPG gas cylinder prices are effective from today, as per media reports.

LPG Price in India is determined by the state-run oil companies and is revised on a monthly basis. Almost all the household in India has a LPG connection and it is mainly used for cooking purpose. An increase in LPG prices will affect the common man in general as they have to bear the brunt of the rising fuel prices in the current market scenario. The best part of it is the government of India is currently providing subsidy on the sale of domestic LPG cylinders to the consumers. The subsidy amount is directly credited to the individuals bank account after the purchase of the cylinder. The subsidy amount varies every month and is dependent on the changes in the average international benchmark LPG prices added with the foreign exchange rate.

The government eliminated subsidies on LPG by raising rates every month. These monthly increases led to the elimination of subsidies by May 2020.  The price of domestic cooking gas has more than doubled in the last seven years. The retail selling price of domestic gas was ₹410.5 per 14.2-kg cylinder on March 1, 2014. 

Currently the government provides 12 subsidised LPG cylinders of 14.2 kilograms to a household every year. The amount of the subsidy provided by the government on the annual quota of 12 refills varies from month to month.
