Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur on Thursday launched the ‘MyParking’ app, a first-of-its-kind initiative where people can book parking slots online in areas under the jurisdiction of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).
With an aim to tackle the issue of congestion of vehicle parking, the app will tell about the total capacity of vehicles to be parked, used spaces, and space available for parking in each parking site. It has been developed by Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL). It is to be noted that BECIL is the implementing agency for app-based smart parking systems in the jurisdiction of SDMC.

- The app promises to help reduce pollution from vehicles by minimizing the time spent searching for parking spots.
- This app has been developed by Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) with SDMC with the purpose to digitise all authorized parking under the civic body’s municipal limits.
- parking is an IoT technology-enabled end-to-end digital solution and will be available for use with mobile apps on both Android and iOS platforms.
- This facility will be rolled out in the future to other municipality divisions across India.
- The parking app will offer various features, including on the spot and advanced bookings of vehicle parking, the flexibility of selecting slots through an easy-to-use mobile app, parking solutions enabled with prepaid/smart cards.
- The app will also give the option of paperless check-in and check-out of vehicles shared parking for safety and recall, display of amenities and facilities in and near parking locations.
- It will also help in the management of parking pass for daily/regular commuters, will provide options for the electric vehicle charging station, and integration of card with DTC/Delhi Metro; smart QR code for slot booking, check-in, and checkout and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system.
