In a new move, telecom major Reliance Jio is apparently offering a grace plan for all prepaid users post the expiry of their pack. The grace period plan kicks off after the plan has expired for a period of 24 hours. During this grace plan, customers will be able to make unlimited on-network calls. This move is for people who are unable to recharge their accounts immediately considering the restrictions during the lockdown period.
The new offer was spotted after the telecom major had launched the Rs 2,399 prepaid recharge plan which brings 2GB of daily data and unlimited voice calling benefits for 365 days. The grace period was first reported by OnlyTech and the report states that the plan is automatically activated once the prepaid plan validity goes off. The grace plan will be available for 24 hours and Jio users will have to recharge their account in this time to prevent deactivation of service
The data add-on packs, on the other hand, come with no daily limit of data. Also, the data from these plans gets added to the base plan, which means that Jio users get no extension in validity on these plans. The Rs 151 add-on pack offers 30GB data, Rs 201 add-on pack offers 40GB data and Rs 251 add-on pack offers 50GB data.
The validity for this grace plan is 24 hours, giving Jio users time to get the next recharge done in case they are not able to do so immediately. Readers must note that they will be able to see that if they are getting this special ‘Grace Plan’ only once their current plan expires.
Last month too, Reliance Jio offered extra 2GB per day data to some select customers for a period of 4 days. However, that extra 2GB data was above the existing data pack that users already have.
Just last week, the company announced new plans for prepaid customers including a long-term pack and three add-on packs.
It should be applicable to all prepaid recharges whose validity expires. Jio prepaid users can verify this by checking the ‘My Plan’ section from MyJio app. If the grace plan is activated then it will show up under the My Plan section. There is however no announcement from Jio on this as yet.
Last month Jio had extended free incoming calls for prepaid users due to Covid-19. Even if the prepaid plan expired, users could still receive incoming calls. This was introduced by other telcos like Airtel and Vodafone Idea as well following TRAI’s request to increase the validity of prepaid plans.
Jio also introduced JioMart, an e-commerce venture of Reliance Retail to interact with customers on WhatsApp for grocery orders” in Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Kalyan.
