Amid the rising coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday (April 7) unveiled a 5T plan to curb the spread of the deadly virus in the national capital. The 5T plan unveiled by CM Kejriwal includes testing, tracing, treatment, teamwork, and tracking.
1.Testing
Aggressive testing is the key to curb the spread of the new coronavirus, says Arvind Kejriwal. The government will conduct one lakh rapid tests in hotspot areas like Dilshad Garden and Nizamuddin.
2.Tracing
After testing, next comes tracing. People are identified who have come in contact with a positive patient and are asked to self-quarantine. The help of Delhi Police is being taken to ensure that self-quarantine is being followed.
On Tablighi Jamaat the chief minister said, “We will give the police phone numbers of Tablighi Jamaat event attendees to trace and ascertain whether they moved in nearby areas.”
3.Treatment
2,950 beds are reserved for coronavirus patients, the chief minister said. LNJP, GB Pant, and Rajiv Gandhi hospitals will treat only coronavirus patients. Beds in private hospitals have been identified where only coronavirus patients will be treated. 12,000 hotel rooms will be taken over. Serious patients and elderly will be kept in hospitals and those with milder symptoms will be kept in hotels and dharamshalas.
“The government has earmarked around 400 beds in private hospitals for COVID-19 patients. We have prepared a detailed plan to take over private hospitals if the number of coronavirus cases rises up to 30,000 in Delhi,” he said.
“We will make arrangements in banquet halls and Dharamsala in the city to accommodate 10,000 COVID-19 patients if such a need arises,” Kejriwal added. Delhi will receive PPE kits shortly from the Centre.
4.Teamwork
New coronavirus can only be defeated through teamwork and I am happy that all states along with Centre are working together to stop the spread of the virus, said the Delhi chief minister. We have to learn from other states. Doctors and nurses are key members of the teams. Their protection is paramount.
5.Tracking & Monitoring
The Delhi government will actively track the developments and actions taken to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
