Central Teacher Eligibility Test, CTET validity has been extended. In an official circular released, Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has informed that a CTET certificate would now be valid for lifetime. Earlier, the certificate was valid for 7 years.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has made this important announcement recently. He also added that the respective State Governments & Union Territories will take necessary action to revalidate or will issue fresh TET certificates to the candidates whose 7 years have already elapsed. The minister further added that this is a positive step in increasing the employment opportunities for candidates seeking a career in the teaching field.

According to the reports, the decision has been made in the conformation of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) notice.
NCTE vide letter No. NCTE-Reg1011/78/2020-US(Regulation)-HQ/99954-99992 dated 09.06.2021 had notified all about its decision to extend the validity period to a lifetime. The clause of the rules was accordingly updated.
With the changes thus affected, CBSE would not issue any revised Marks Statement for the previous CTET examinations.
About CTET:
CTET, the teacher eligibility test, is a mandatory requirement for all who wish to apply for teaching positions in central government schools for classes 1 to 8. The examination, usually conducted in July and December has been postponed.
CTET Application Form 2021
The CTET application form 2021 will release along with the notification. Candidates who fulfil the CTET eligibility criteria can apply online by visiting the official website. To fill the form, candidates need to pay the examination fee. The fee is Rs 1,000 for General and OBC categories and Rs 500 for Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Differently Abled Person.
CTET Eligibility 2021
- Candidates should pass 10+2 with a minimum of 45 per cent aggregate marks in order to be qualified for appointment as a primary stage teacher
- Candidates should clear graduation with minimum 45 per cent aggregate marks or 10+2 with at least 50 per cent aggregate marks in order to be qualified for appointment as an elementary stage teacher
- Candidates should complete the prescribed teacher training programmes/teacher education courses
