Air India has launched a particular provide whereby the State-run airline service is providing as much as a 50% low cost on flight tickets for senior residents. As a part of the provide, senior residents get a flat 50% low cost on the essential fare on all Air India flights. The low cost is relevant on most routes on which Air India flies its business planes.
For availing of the low cost provide run by Air India, senior residents planning to e-book a flight ticket want to purchase it no less than three days upfront. The low-cost scheme is legitimate for all Indians who’re aged 60 or above.
Moreover, the senior citizen discount is applicable only on economy class tickets. So, if you’re a senior citizen or if you’re planning to take your parents or grandparents on a vacation, then this could be the right time.
However, you should take note of a few important things before booking the discounted tickets for senior citizens. For instance, you need to ensure that the senior citizen passenger traveling by Air India should have a valid photo identity card with a date of birth clearly printed on it.
The ID proof is mandatory for the bookings of all such flights. In case, the passenger fails to produce a valid ID proof then the carrier will charge full fare for such plane tickets.
Air India had started the discounted scheme for senior citizens in December 2020. The company is now planning to run the carriers till December 2021. Also, if a senior citizen is traveling with a child, the airline will charge the full fare for the child’s ticket. Earlier, Air India had resumed bookings on international flights from India to Saudi Arabia. Passengers planning to travel to Saudi Arabia can book tickets through the Air India website.
Passengers can also visit booking offices or book tickets via call centers or travel agents. The big decision comes after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) relaxed travel restrictions for fully vaccinated passengers from India.
Air India took to Twitter to make the following announcement:
“Air India opens bookings from India to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Before booking tickets kindly read the travel guidelines carefully. Bookings opened through Air India Website, Booking Offices, Call Centre & Authorised Travel Agents. It will be the sole responsibility of the passengers to ensure his/her eligibility to enter the destination country. Air India will accept no liability in this regard”.
