After Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea lifted FUP limit on the voice calls of their prepaid plans, Reliance Jio announced that it was bringing back its Rs 98 and Rs 149 prepaid plans.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Bharti Airtel has lifted the FUP limit on all voice calls for its unlimited prepaid plans.
  • Vodafone Idea too has announced a similar change for its prepaid plans.
  • Reliance Jio has announced new prepaid plans after changes announced by Airtel and Vodafone.

The telecom industry is in a state of turmoil right now. Last week the three major telecom giants in the country – Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio – announced a hike in their prepaid plans. While Airtel announced a 42 percent hike in its plans, Jio increased its tariff by 40 percent while maintaining that it would remain “committed to the ultimate interest of the customer”. Now a week later, both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have lifted the FUP limit on the voice calls for all of their unlimited calls.

Bharti Airtel

The first telecom giant to remove the FUP limit on its data plans was Airtel, which announced the news via its official Twitter handle. The company announced that it was removing the FUP limit on voice calls for all unlimited prepaid plans. This means all the prepaid users who have subscribed to Airtel’s Rs 148 plan, Rs 248 plan, Rs 598 plan, Rs 698 plan, Rs 1498 plan or Rs 2398 plan will be able to make voice calls to other networks without paying any additional charges when their FUP limit expires.

In addition to that Airtel has announced three new prepaid plans that join the company’s unlimited prepaid plans. Here are the details:

— Rs 219: It offers 1GB data per day along with 100 SMSs per day and unlimited voice calls. It comes with a validity of 28 days.

— Rs 399: It offers 1.5GB data per day along with 100 SMSs per day and unlimited voice calls. It comes with a validity of 56 days.

— Rs 449: It offers 2GB data per day along with 100 SMSs per day and unlimited voice calls. It comes with a validity of 56 days.

Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea followed Airtel’s suit and removed the FUP limit on voice calls for all unlimited prepaid calls. The news was announced by Vodafone via its official Twitter handle. This means that now Vodafone Idea can now make unlimited voice calls to any network without incurring any extra charges.

This means that all users who have subscribed to one of Vodafone’s unlimited packs — the packs that offer a validity of 28 days, 84 days or 365 days — will benefit from this change.
