Aadhaar Card photo: Aadhar Card is the most crucial government identity proof, which must be kept updated to avail all benefits and Services. We all have our 12 digit Aadhar-number on our Aadhar Card issued by the (Unique Identification Authority of India) UDAI.  It is one of the most common identification documents that contain both demographic and biometric data of an individual, including name, address, contact details, photo, and biometric details including Name, Address, Contact details, photo, and others.

However, In order to make any changes in the Aadhaar card, you should visit the UIDAI’s official website for updating your details through the Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). You can also visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre located in your area for the same.

Steps to Change Photo in Aadhaar Card

  • Look for the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre/ Aadhaar Sewa Kendra on the official UIDAI website.
  • You can also download the Aadhaar Enrolment Form from UIDAI’s website
  • Properly fill the form and take it to the nearest aadhaar enrolment centre
  • You will need to submit the form to the centre executive and also provide your biometric details
  • To update your photo, the centre executive will take your live photo on their camera
  • You will have to provide biometrics to verify and approve your details
  • An administrative fee of INR 25 plus GST will need to be paid to get the Aadhaar details updated
  • You can use the URN (Update request number) to check the status of the update
  • You can download the updated Aadhaar card online, once the process of update is complete.

How to download your updated Aadhaar 

1. Once your request to change the photo in Aadhar is processed, you can download it online

2. For this, you should visit the UIDAI portal to download the updated Aadhaar card

3. You are also provided with the option to download either a normal Aadhaar card or a masked Aadhaar card

4. You will also have to refresh your Aadhaar details in the mAadhaar app after the update

5. You are advised to update your Aadhaar data in the DigiLocker app as well.

Important Points Related to Aadhaar Card Update

  • No document is required for changing photo in Aadhaar card
  • You do not have to submit a photograph as the executive clicks the photograph on the spot using the webcam
  • It may take up to 90 days to get the details updated in Aadhaar
  • You can check the Aadhaar update status online using the URN provided in the Acknowledgement Slip
  • There is no online process to change the photo on Aadhar card through the Self Service Update Portal (SSUP).
