Delhi Lockdown: The national capital will be under a six-day lockdown from 19th on 10 pm  to 5 am next Monday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced yesterday. Mr Kejriwal said the lockdown is necessary as there is a scarcity of resources after the Covid crisis escalated. Only essential services will now be allowed. E-passes can be obtained from the Delhi government website. In the last few days, the daily cases of Covid-19 have been around 25,500 and the healthcare system in Delhi is under tremendous pressure, the Chief Minister said, while addressing an online press conference.

In the announcement, Kejriwal also said that marriages will remain unaffected due to the lockdown and people can apply for the E-Pass. He further said that the gathering of only 50 people will be allowed in the marriages.

Here is what you need to know about how to apply for an E-Pass, who is exempted to travel without an E-Pass. Here’s a step-wise guide:

Who needs an E-Pass?

*People who will go for vaccination.

*People working in banks, insurances office.

*People going to ATM.

*Private security personnel will need an E-Pass.

*Print and Electronic Media Personnel.

*People working in broadcasting and cable services, IT and Internet services.

*People attending the marriage.

Who are exempted?

*Media personnel will be exempted with their valid ID Card.

*There will be no restriction on inter-state and intra-state movement/transportation of essential goods. There will be no requirement of E-Pass for any such movements.

Here we take you through the process of applying for an e-pass.

  1. Long on to the Delhi government website delhi.gov.in
  2. Click on the e-pass tab
  3. Fill in your personal details including name, contact number, address of place of engagement. 
  4. Upload an ID proof or any other document related to service or business.
  5. Cross-check the information and ‘submit’.
  6. After submitting the information, an e-pass number is generated to check the status of your e-pass
  7. The applicant will receive an SMS once the application is approved
  8. Download the e-pass or take a print out of the same
