Prime-Minister on March 22, calls for ‘Janta Curfew’ while he was addressing the Nation on Coronavirus at 8 pm tonight. He also urges people to stay inside the home on Sunday to make the event(Janta Curfew) successful in the wake of the Covid-19.

With the upheld of ‘Janta curfew’ on March 22 from 7 am-9 pm, no citizen, barring those in essential services, should get out of the house- the prime minister stated.

He(Prime-Minister) also requested people above the age of 60 to not venture out of their homes for the next few weeks.

With a fervent appeal to all Indians to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid getting infected by coronavirus, he also said that the world has never seen a danger as grave as this.

“Even World War I and II did not affect as many countries as coronavirus has done,” Modi said in a national broadcast.

The Prime Minister also cautioned citizens against hoarding and panic-buying, assuring that there would be no shortage of essentials like milk, medicines and food.

During the Janata Curfew, people are requested to avoid public spaces, not to gather in their neighborhoods. and stay home for 14 hours in the view of coronavirus outbreak which has affected over 100 countries across the world.

Asking people to sacrifice “some weeks of yours, some time of yours”, Modi said given that coronavirus has no cure yet, the only way to stay safe is to stay indoors.

“At 5 pm, we will stand at our balconies, windows or doors for 5 minutes and we will applaud those maintaining essential services by ringing bells, sounding sirens and clapping…,” he said. In addition to this, the honorable PM also requested I request all people in country to get out of the house only when it is extremely necessary, try and do all work from home.

He said resolution and restraint are very important in combat against this global epidemic and urged the citizens to follow the advisories issued by state and central governments to fight coronavirus. He said restrain is compulsory to protect ourselves and remain healthy.

PM Modi said his government has decided to constitute COVID-19 Economic Response Task Force under finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The task force will remain in regular touch with all stakeholders, take their feedback and make decisions accordingly, the PM added.

The prime minister requested the countrymen to avoid visiting hospitals for routine check-ups. He said if you have an appointment for any non-essential surgery, please postpone for one month, keeping in mind that pressure should not come on hospitals.

Modi said for the last 2 months, millions are working day and night in hospitals, airports to serve others by not taking care of themselves. He urged the citizens to stand on their doorways, balconies at 5’o clock on 22 March and keep clapping hands, ringing the bells for 5 mins to salute and encourage them.
