The Indian Railways has started displaying reserved charts online. The passengers can now access information on vacant, booked and partially booked train berths after preparation of the reservation chart. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted, “Hassle-Free Train Travel: Passengers can now access information on vacant, booked and partially booked train berths after preparation of the reservation chart, at the click of a button.”
Highlights:
- The new feature will be available on both the web and mobile version of the IRCTC e-ticket booking platform
- This will help passengers get information about any vacant berths that are available on the train after the chart is prepared

The first reservation chart will be put up about 4 hours before the departure of the train while the second chart can be viewed online 30 minutes before the train departs. The second chart will show the changes in seat allocations.
The new feature will be available on both the web and mobile version of the IRCTC e-ticket booking platform.
This new interface will give the layout of nine classes used in the reserved trains of the Indian Railways and more than 120 different coach layouts have been incorporated.
Here is how you can check reservation charts on the IRCTC website:
1) Log on to the IRCTC website, a new option of view ‘Charts/Vacancy’ is available. If you click on that option, you will be redirected to a new page.
2) You need to provide journey details, such as train number, journey date and boarding station. Once you enter the details, click on ‘Get Train Chart’ option.
3)You will now be able to see the reservation chart.
4) The class-wise and coach-wise number of vacant berths can be seen.
5) You can click on your coach number to see the layout.
