The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday issued a revised schedule of civil service examinations and interviews on its official website. According to the revised calendar, the UPSC Civil Services and IFS preliminary examinations will now be conducted on Sunday, October 4, 2020.

The Civil Services (Mains) exam will be conducted on January 8, 2021, while the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination 2020 will be held on February 28, 2021.

Also, the UPSC Personality Tests for Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2019 for remaining candidates will be resumed from July 20, 2020. The candidates will be informed individually by the Commission.

In a circular, UPSC had said, “With a view to giving some clarity to candidates of various examinations and interviews, which have been deferred over the last two months, the Commission will issue a revised schedule of examinations in its next meeting to be held on 5 June 2020.”

Like every year, around 10 lakh candidates have registered for the Civil Services Preliminary examination this year too. The UPSC invites applications in the month of January/February. Candidates are asked to fill up the application form up to March and the preliminary examination is conducted in the months of April/May while the Main examination is conducted in June.

The eligible candidates will be issued an e-Admit Card before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admit Card will be made available in the UPSC website – https://upsconline.nic.in – for downloading by candidates. No Admit Card will be sent by post.

Candidates should note that there will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.

The Civil Services Examination is a competitive examination which is conducted all over India by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to various Civil Services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS).
