According to ANI news agency, the Delhi government has extended the validity of essential documents related to vehicles, such as driving licenses, registration certificates, and others expiring from September 30 till November 30.

The current deadline was September 30.

So, no need to worry if your driving license and other motor vehicle documents are about to expire today, September 30. The Delhi government has extended the validity of all motor vehicle documents and permits till November 30 this year.

The extension of the deadline comes after the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had directed all the states to increase the validity of necessary documents related to vehicles.

According to the notification of the Transport Department of Delhi, there have been cases of heavy rush at various driving license centers. So they have extended the time limit.

This is the eighth extension given by the government for the renewal of these documents during the Covid-19 period. The first such extension was given on March 30, 2020. The dates were subsequently extended to June 9, 2020; August 24, 2020; December 27, 2020; March 26, 2021; June 17, 2021, and September 30, 2021.

The government notification has, however, made it clear that vehicle owners must have updated insurance and pollution under check (PUC) certificates. Since insurance can be renewed online, and there are many PUC centers, these documents can be renewed easily, it further said.

The notice said information has been received from various field offices that a large number of applicants are turning up for various services as the validity of various documents is going to expire on September 30, 2021.

“Even though. the situation has become almost normal but adequate precautionary steps are required to be taken to avoid the recurrence of COVID pandemic like situation and for that reason, it is proposed that the validity of documents issued by the Transport Department expired between February 1, 2020, and September 30, 2021, maybe further extended for two months ie up to November 30, 2021. However, the vehicles plying on road should have a PUCC to ensure pollution control,” stated the notice.

Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot said on Wednesday that the integration work will be completed by November 1.

Gahlot reviewed the progress of the faceless service launched by the Delhi government in August. He said that more than 92 percent of driving license-related applications and 80 percent of other requests were cleared under the faceless services.
