If more than one vehicle is linked to the NHAI’s prepaid wallet, the SMS would show the cumulative balance of all tags assigned the vehicles. Thereafter, if the tag of a vehicle has a low balance, the user will get an SMS for the same, the NHAI said in a statement.

Since the launch of NHAI Prepaid Wallet, more than 2.25 lakh FASTag users have opted for the prepaid facility through the My FASTag App, which is available on both Android and iOS. Being a bank-neutral tag, NHAI FASTag can be linked either to a savings bank account or NHAI Prepaid Wallet using My FASTag App. Thirteen banks can be linked to NHAI FASTag, the statement added.

As on 1 January, over 1.15 crore FASTags, the electronic toll collection system, have been issued, NHAI said in a statement. The daily transactional value has crossed 52 crores with the number of FASTag payments surpassing 30 lakh, it added.

The compulsory implementation of FASTags is aimed at reducing traffic at toll plazas and boost digital payments.
