PUBG Corporation, creator of PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) and a subsidiary of South Korea’s KRAFTON, Inc., on Thursday announced that it would launch a new game named PUBG Mobile India which has been created specifically for the Indian market. This development comes almost two weeks after the game stopped working for players in the country. The Indian government had slapped a ban on PUBG and 117 other apps in September, amid ongoing border tensions between India and China.

PUBG Mobile India Coming Back After Ban, Developers Have Announced

PUBG Corporation has announced it is preparing to launch a new game called PUBG Mobile India that has been “created specifically for the Indian market.” The new game will maximize data security for its players and adhere to the local regulations, the announcement said. PUBG Corporation states there will be regular audits and verifications on the storage systems that store the personal information of Indian users in order to make sure that the data is kept safe.

According to the company, privacy and security of Indian players’ data are a top priority for PUBG Corporation and it would conduct regular audits and verifications on the storage systems holding Indian users’ personally identifiable information to reinforce security and ensure that their data is safely managed.

The developers have also shared that they will improve in-game content and also customize it to “reflect local needs.” These changes include a virtual simulation training ground setting, clothing on new characters, and green hit effects instead of red. It will also add a feature to restrict game time for younger players.

Additionally, PUBG Corporation plans on establishing a local office where it will hire over 100 employees to enhance communications and services with players. “In addition to establishing a local office, the company will look to actively collaborate and leverage local businesses to strengthen its gaming service,” the developers added.

With its parent company KRAFTON, Inc., PUBG Corporation plans to make investments worth $100 million in India to cultivate the local video game, esports, entertainment, and IT industries. Outside of the manufacturing industry, these investments would represent the largest made by a Korean company. Thanks to overwhelming community enthusiasm for PUBG esports in India, the company also plans to make investments by hosting India-exclusive esports events, which will feature the biggest tournaments, the largest prize pools, and the best tournament productions.

Both PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite, which were banned on September 2 by the Indian government over security concerns, will no longer work in the country. The app was made unavailable to download on Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store soon after the ban, but existing users could still access the game and continue playing it. Now, after almost two months, Tencent Games is finally terminating all service and access for users in India to PUBG Mobile and Lite version.
