UPSC Prelims 2021: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) postponed the civil services preliminary examination 2021 to 10 October amid a surge in COVID-19 cases across the country. The preliminary exam was scheduled to be conducted in June.

The commission will now conduct the UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2021 on October 10, 2021, due to the prevailing COVID 19 situation in the country. The exam was earlier scheduled to be held on June 27, 2021. 

The new exam date for USPC (IAS) Prelims 2021 has been also announced online at upsc.gov.in. As per the official notification, 10th October 2021 is the new date for UPSC CSE 2021.  Many candidates were demanding to postpone the exams on social media such as Twitter and Facebook. It was expected that due to the ongoing concern and to ensure the safety of the candidates the committee will postpone the exam to a new date.

The official notification on UPSC Prelims 2021 postponement reads, “Due to the prevailing conditions caused by the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), the Union Public Service Commission has deferred the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2021, which was scheduled to be held on June 29, 2021. Situation Similar To Last Year:

An almost similar situation happened last year due to COVID-19 lockdown and nation-wise lockdown due to which UPSC 2020 was postponed. While deciding the new dates candidates were given at least 30 days of notice. The exam date(UPSC Prelims 2020) was postponed to October 4. 

Earlier, the Union Public Service Commission India has deferred the release date of UPSC CMS notification 2021. The official notification for UPSC CMS exam 2021 was initially scheduled to release on May 5, 2021. However, the exam is now deferred till further notice. Other Recruitment Exams Has Also Been Postponed:  

Other ongoing government recruitment exams like SSC CGL and some exams of SSC CHSL have also been postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As per the official notification of SSC, the commission will assess the situation and then it will decide on exam dates. Due to all these events and past year experience, it was expected that UPSC might postpone the Civil Service Exam if the COVID-19 cases keep on increasing.
