The second phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive in India has begun. It aims to cover 10 crore people across the country. So far, more than 1.5 core people have received Covid-19 shots. States and UTs have been asked to keep a vaccination scale-up plan ready which includes the granular weekly and fortnightly plans for scaling up the vaccination sites both within the government and private facilities and also the number of vaccine doses administered.

Citizens will be able to register and book an appointment for vaccination, anytime and anywhere, using the Co-WIN 2.0 portal or through other IT applications such as Arogya Setu.

In this phase, all people aged above 60 and those over 45 and with comorbidities will be able to get Covid-19 vaccine shots free of cost from over 10,000 government vaccination centers. Appointments will be closed at 3 pm on the day for which the slots are opened. The vaccination centers are open from 9 am to 3 pm.

The coronavirus vaccine will be given free of cost at government hospitals, while people will have to pay for it at private facilities, except for Bihar. The Bihar government will bear the entire cost of the coronavirus vaccination even at private hospitals.

Eligibility

People who are above the age of 60 and people within the age bracket of 45 to 59 years with specified co-morbidities are allowed to take the Covid-19 vaccine shots.
The government has released a list of 20 comorbidities that are covered for vaccination.
