Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kharagpur has postponed JEE Advanced 2021 examination. The examination has been postponed keeping the COVID19 situation under consideration. The Joint Entrance Examination Advanced was scheduled to be conducted on July 3, 2021. Candidates can check the official notice on official site of JEE Advanced on jeeadv.ac.in.

 

JEE Advanced 2021 postponed

An official statement regarding this has also been uploaded on the official website. “Considering the prevailing pandemic situation due to COVID-19, JEE (Advanced) 2021 which was scheduled to be held on July 03, 2021 (Saturday) stands postponed. The revised date of examination will be announced at an appropriate time,” the statement reads. 

Last month, a three-member committee of IIT Kharagpur, the organizing institute of JEE Advanced had held a meeting to review the COVID situation and take a decision on conducting the exam. The members were considering postponing the exam so that there is a reasonable gap between JEE Mains and JEE Advanced.

 

While there are no dates announced as yet, experts are now expecting JEE Main Exams to be conducted in September and JEE Advanced in October. In 2020, the exams were postponed till September 27 due to the pandemic. The result had been released by October 5, 2020. New dates for JEE Advanced are likely to be announced after JEE Main exam dates are announced. Students who qualify JEE main exam 2021 will be eligible to appear for JEE advanced 2021 examination.

 

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria

IIT Kharagpur had earlier released the subject-wise syllabus for the IIT admission test on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in. Mock tests for JEE Advanced 2021 are also available on the official website.

The eligibility criteria for admission to IITs will be securing pass marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and any other subject. The 75% eligibility criteria have been removed this year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Other details

As per the official eligibility criteria, the top 2.5 lakh candidates who clear the JEE Main 2021 examination can appear for the JEE Advanced 2021 entrance to seek admission to premium engineering institutes on the basis of their scores.

Students who appear for the JEE Advanced exam have to give two papers, Paper I and Paper-II. While Paper I was scheduled to be held in the morning shift–9 am to 12 noon, Paper-II was scheduled in the afternoon shift– 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
