KV’s & State Boards’ Decision to Pass Students of Classes 1 to 9: Amid COVID- 19 pandemic & lockdown, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and many state boards (like Gujarat, Haryana, Puducherry) have decided to promote school students (Classes 1st to 9th & Class 11th, different for different boards)

After this, many students & parents are seeking clarity from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) via twitter.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan on 28/03/2020 shared its decision to promote all Classes I to IX students to the next class without examination due to COVID-19 Lockdown.

Many states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi and now Puducherry, have also declared an ‘All Pass’ for students of Class 1 to 9.

Earlier, CBSE postponed the on-going Board Examinations 2020 on March 18 after an advisory from HRD Ministry.

Schools and examinations have been affected by the lockdowns due to Coronavirus. While the country has gone under a 21-day lockdown from – March 25, almost all the schools in the country along with universities have been shut for over 2 weeks already. Many of the schools were either in the middle of their annual examination or about to begin. Considering the current situation and pandemic threat, many state boards along with Kendriya Vidyalaya’s have decided to promote all students of classes 1 to 9 to the next class sans examinations.

After this announcement, many parents have approached CBSE, asking about the decision to promote CBSE students to the next class as well. The board has, however, responded that no decision has been taken by the CBSE in this regard. As to whether or not CBSE may take that step, experts are divided.

Recently, CBSE has also responded from its twitter handle and asked the students to wait for an official update.
