PM Modi address highlights: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation today after the country’s milestone of one billion vaccinations, said it was not just a number but a symbol of the country’s ability and of a “new India”. He added that India’s critics had been silenced. “1 billion vaccines is just not a number. It is the reflection of the capacity of this country, this is a new chapter of the country, a country that knows how to achieve huge targets,” PM Modi said.

Modi, in an opinion piece on Friday, described India’s Covid-19 vaccination as a journey from “anxiety to assurance” that has made the country emerge stronger. He credited its success to people’s trust in the vaccines despite “various efforts to create mistrust and panic”.
