WhatsApp has rolled out a bunch of new features for WhatsApp Web including a better way to edit images on the browser mode of the app as well as a new set of emojis for its smartphone app.

The Facebook-owned messaging platform was spotted testing photo-editing tool on the web app but now we have learnt that the feature has been rolled out to some users. It was previously spotted in the latest beta version of WhatsApp. The feature not only lets users edit photos, crop them but also add stickers before sending them.

According to the report, the biggest changes in the version are support for editing pictures in WhatsApp on desktop and web versions. “If the feature is available for your WhatsApp account, before sending the image, WhatsApp will show some new options to edit it, like the possibility to add emojis, stickers, text and more,” notes the report. So along with photo editing, users will have the option to add emojis and stickers as well.

WhatsApp Web Drawing Tools

The new image editing tools on WhatsApp Web (version 2.2130.7) are a part of a feature dubbed ‘Drawing Tools’ that allow users to edit and tweak images before sending them to someone. This feature has been present on the smartphone versions of the app however, now will soon make its way to the web browser version of the app.

The Drawing Tools feature on WhatsApp Web allows you to scribble on top of an image, add stickers, emojis and even crop/rotate an image before sharing. The tools become visible after you select a particular image to share.

New Emojis

On the iOS and Android versions of the app — version 2.21.16.10 — WhatsApp has added the new slew of emojis on WhatsApp’s latest beta build that were present as a part of iOS’s most recent iOS 14.5 update.

This includes multiple skin tone couple emojis with heart, couples kissing, face with spiral eyes, face in clouds, men and women in different skin tones and hairstyles, flaming heart, and several more — a total of 217 to be exact. These also include both men and women in the beard.
Interestingly, users do not have the option of adding a sticker to the images on the mobile app. This is the first that WhatsApp has launched for web users only. It may launch for mobile app users in the future, but you will get to try the feature first on the web app.
